The organic cultivation of our vineyards has a long history – Grandma Margarethe took the first steps.

Organic viticulture
We are organic by conviction and are one of the pioneers in our region, with almost 30 years of certified organic farming. The organic cultivation of our vineyards has a long history; Grandma Margarethe took the first steps. Birgit, the current winemaker, certified all vineyards. Certification means a one-time conversion to organic and regular external inspections of the cellar and the vineyards.
Organic winemaking is a sustainable and environmentally friendly form of viticulture.
No pesticides are used, but natural methods are promoted to ensure biodiversity. We take care of the soil and plants and preventively protect them from diseases.
A healthy soil structure is essential for growing high-quality wines and is promoted by a natural supply of nutrients from composting or green manure.

Thermenregion
Our vineyards are located in Lower Austria, in the wine-growing region “Thermenregion”, south of Vienna along the Vienna Woods with the Anninger as a prominent elevation.
It is not surprising that the Thermenregion is also called the “Burgundy of Austria”. With a latitude of 48°20´, it is approximately at the same altitude as French Burgundy. This explains why Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir, and St. Laurent, which are among the best grape varieties in the world, are so important to us.
In addition, there are special delicacies, the autochthonous white wine varieties Rotgipfler and Zierfandler, which are vinified exclusively in our region. These feel particularly comfortable due to the large temperature fluctuations between day and night. Sufficient hours of sunshine during the day encourage the formation of sugar in the berries, while cool air currents from the Vienna Woods at night ensure fresh fruit and acidity.
The diversity of our soils – from warm alluvial land to deep clay soil – offers equally the best conditions for full-bodied white wines and fruity red wines. The region is also known for its numerous wine taverns called “Heurigen”, where visitors can enjoy local wines and regional specialties.

Our vineyards & sites
The most important locations include:
Ried Stubenberger – Gumpoldskirchen – with Rotgipfler and Zierfandler
Ried Leitn – Guntramsdorf – with Gemischter Satz and Grüner Veltliner
Ried Haberl – Guntramsdorf – with Weißburgunder Reserve
Ried Himmelstiege – Guntramsdorf – with Pinot Blanc
Ried Tatzen – Guntramsdorf – with Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and St. Laurent
Our oldest vines are over 50 years old. Our vineyards are carefully expanded and always gladly supplemented with good locations.

Wine Cellar
The wine cellar is the treasure of our winery. Here the fully ripe grapes are stored individually in stainless steel tanks, in large traditional wooden barrels or in 300 liter oak barrels made from Vienna woods oak. Our cellar can also be visited during wine tastings and at the open day which takes place every April.
