In 1922, Mr. Dr. Zweigelt crossed Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent to produce, the now very popular, Zweigelt grape. Its spectrum ranges from light young wines to powerful wines matured in small barrique barrels (Zweigelt Reserve). The varietal characteristics are purple reflections and the typical cherry aromas.
The grapes for our Zweigelt grow along the “Wasserleitungsweg” between Mödling and Guntramsdorf where the soil provides the ideal basis. It is matured in large wooden barrels where it gains more harmony and density, which is presented with the elegant extract sweetness and a harmonious tannin structure in the wine.
